Ode to NYC
NYC might be dying, but the history lives on. But that's okay. All empires fall. As much as I love the five boroughs. It sure ain't the Kingdom of God. On earth as it is in heaven. The lights of Times Square can't burn forever. In fact if I'm honest, they're already kinda dim. I'm looking for that heavenly city. No more bodegas, just the Lord's Supper. All thr mayors lie. NYC is dirty. But I always see the cleaning ladies driving to Gracie Mansion. New York is the greatest city in the world, that's what they say. But how can that be true, if Jesus ain't the king of it. We may have a Queens, and some Knicks, but our court got no King. The Bronx is burning, but Fifth Ave is too busy selling its soul. But maybe NYC's gotta die a bit, so it can be resurrected. Something Jesus might know about.
